What is a Custom Rod?

A custom rod is a unique, one of a kind, hand built rod made just for you, to your specifications.  Unlike mass produced fishing rods from the big box stores, or even specialty retailers, a custom rod can be build the way you want it.    Do you wish the reel seat was a bit further from the butt on your casting rod because you have longer than average arms - we can do it.   Do you like your grips a little thinner, or thicker than those off the rack?  No problem.   A custom rod is also an expression of your personality - do you like a subtle, simple, "no frills" design, or do you want your rod to scream out that you've got game!  Want to show off your allegiance to your favorite College or Professional sports team - you pick the colors to of your team - and we can even put your team's logo on the rod blank or perhaps even as a part of the grips.

A custom rod is pretty much whatever you dream it to be.   The sky is the limit on what can be done - there are 100's of unique blanks with different lengths, actions powers - and we can fine-tune things further by taking an existing blank and cutting down the tip or the butt to change its action or power.   You have choices of cork, EVA foam, braided cord, flocked shrink wrap, Winn-style grips, etc - and so many options in guides that its hard to even get your head around it - but let us provide our experience to help guide you to the right component selection for your budget and needs.

We use quality components from the best manufacturers serving the custom rod building industry.   You may recognize some of these names - like Fuji - while perhaps not others - but most are used by higher-end production rod manufactures due to the quality that these manufacturers provide, and you can benefit by selecting the specific combination of these quality parts for your rod.  In fact, rods you have now may actually be using blanks produced by the vendors we work with to source blanks for your custom rods.
