Color Anodized Titanium
Color Anodized Titanium guides provide the highest level in corrosion protection, and color anodizing is a process which occurs at the molecular level at the surface of the metal - it is not a paint or coating which may fade, wear or flake off over time. The ceramic rings in the guides are not removed during the process so that their structural integrity remains - and the anodization process does not harm the ring in any way. The anodization process is extremely robust. While it is possible to remove the color oxidation layer by sanding/polishing, this is not a concern is normal use of a rod. A guide train is not complete without a tip-top, and a set of colored guides would not be complete without a colored top. Back Creek Custom Rods has developed a proprietary process by which titanium tip-tops are able to be prepped and colored. Now a little known fact is that with the titanium tops currently available, only the frame is actually titanium - the tube remains stainless - as such we can only color the frame, but till still allows a unique custom effect that will set your rod apart. Or, if you want a fully colored tip, consider using a powder coated tip-tip in a matching or complementary color. We offer Alps, Fuji, American Tackle & SeaGuide titanium guides, tip-tops & hook keepers, colored to your choice of colors (within the spectrum possible by titanium anodization - i.e. unfortunately red is not an option). Anodized Titanium Color Options
A wide spectrum of colors are able to be achieved with titanium anodization - though unfortunately not red or those based on red tones (orange), or options such as white & black. We have set a menu of colors to choose from for the ordering process, but if you have a special request - to try and match a specific shade of a reel seat, trim ring, etc - we can often achieve that and will do our closest color matching for an additional fee - just contact us via the form below to discuss. Due to the nature of the material and the process, there can be some slight variations in the color and/or hue across parts or sizes - though we take all possible steps to match a set as close as absolutely possible across the range of parts - we accomplish this by anodizing each part one at a time, comparing to the "control" part - and adjusting the process along the way as needed. No bulk anodizing here and you get what you get.... we work hard to ensure as perfect a set as possible.

Powder Coated Stainless Steel
Powder Coated Stainless Steel guides provide a wide range of color options, including options not available via titanium anodization - such as red - at a more affordable price point. While powder coating is just that - a coating on the guide, it is very robust and when properly cared for will provide years of service. We have developed a proprietary masking system custom to each size/style of guide which prevents the need to remove the ceramic inserts - preserving their structural integrity. We offer the full range of Alps 316 stainless guide and tip-tops - including roller guides, with stocking inventory of many Alps models. Powder coating is just that - a coating applied over the surface material. As such there is the possibility of the coating chipping or cracking if the guides are treated with abuse - however the process by which we prep the guides, apply the powder and the cure the powder coating yield a very resilient result that should last for many years to come.
Powder Coated Stainless Color Options
Powder Coating is available in what seems like an endless rainbow of options. We primarily use "Candy Clear" powder coats to provide a great depth of color when applied on polished stainless parts. With such a broad range of colors available, we have had to select a set of stock colors to offer. However if you have a unique request we are happy to explore it - typically it would require a fixed charge on top of the normal power coat part cost to cover purchase of your desired color powder. Here's the process to get some amazing color onto your next custom build...
- Place an order via the on-line store - or if what you need is not yet on the store, drop us a message and we'll work up a specific quote.
- We stock inventory of the full line of Alps titanium and Alps 316 stainless guides & tip-tops with hard aluminum oxide rings on-hand - for others (Fuji, including Fuji tip-tops, American Tackle, Mud Hole CRB, Sea Guide), or if larger quantities of Alps are needed, we order inventory at the first and middle of each month if not more often - with all the styles & sizes, and let's be honest, the price of titanium, it is challenging to keep our own inventory on hand, so we partner with our suppliers to get the parts at the best possible cost as quickly as possible - usually within a week of our placing an order.
- Once we have the parts in hand, within 3-5 working days we put them through the magical coloring process, turning plain old titanium into something colorful & unique and get them on the way to you.
